Cameron Lamont - Personal Trainer and Coach

Cameron Lamont

Cameron has, for the last 20 years, been a successful competitive cyclist. Following his tertiary education as an Outdoor Instructor specializing in rock climbing, mountaineering, paragliding and tramping, Cameron focused all his efforts on becoming a professional cyclist. He left New Zealand and was introduced to European road racing with the Swiss Elite Team MitaMedic. His second season brought him to Belgium, home of the hardest road racing in the world, racing for the Elite team ASFRA Flanders.

In his third season Cameron raced for CK Kronborg, a category three professional Team. In his fourth season he rode for Team PACCO in Belgium. Unfortunately, Cameron’s season was cut short when he was hit by a car while out training. After four exciting years of challenging and successful racing in Europe, Cameron returned to New Zealand and opened his bike shop CYCLE WORKZ in his home town of Christchurch.

Train smarter - not harder!

Cameron Lamont

A year into retirement from racing, the competitive spirit stirred again and he started running. Cameron wanted to finish a marathon. The only marathon event Cameron found available was the marathon part of Ironman New Zealand, only three months away. Since he was already training himself in running and was still capable of cycling he accepted the challenge and booked swimming lessons with Scott Molina He went from not being able to swim and being able to run for an hour at a time, to completing his first Ironman in under 12 hours. Four months later he competed in Ironman Frankfurt and cut an hour off his race time. Cameron has completed 5 Ironman races. His current focus is on Ultra Marathons. He has now completed five, including the Salt Falts 100 mile ultramarathon where he finished in 10th place and under 24 hours. He has also been selected for the New Zealand Duathlon National Team to take part at the World Championships in Zofingen, CH.

In 2010 Cameron sold his bike shop to live with his wife in Germany, he is now learning to speak German and qualified as a personal trainer.
